Silo exposes the same tenant capabilities through two public interfaces:
  • a versioned JSON REST API for applications and automations
  • a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for ChatGPT, Claude, and other compatible AI clients
Both interfaces use per-user OAuth. A connection is tied to the organization the user selects while authorizing it, and every operation is checked against both the granted OAuth scope and the user’s current Silo permissions.

Available resources

Article operations are scoped to a site. All other resources are scoped to the authorized organization, with nested issue operations also scoped to a magazine.

Endpoints

Use the production API and Admin origins:
External writes use the same permission checks, transactional write wrappers, and downstream event pipeline as writes from Silo Admin. The API and MCP server do not provide a separate database-write path.

Authenticate an application

Discover OAuth endpoints, request scopes, and obtain per-user tokens.

Connect an AI client

Add the remote MCP server to ChatGPT, Claude, or another MCP client.
